Your patient is a 42-year-old woman with chronic back pain. She has been repeatedly prescribed opioids for the pain and she would now like to try other ways to manage her pain due to concerns about opioid addiction.

• Pathophysiology of pain, including the difference between acute and chronic pain 
• Signs/symptoms to monitor and when to report
